The USAF pants are pants used by the US Air Force, ABU pants, APECS pants, and MCPS pants. The ABU pants are the official issue combat pants used by the US Air Force. The ABU is currently in the process of phasing out the BDU, once the standard battle uniform used by all branches of the US military. The ABU is expected to completely replace the BDU by fiscal year 2011. The camouflage pattern used for the ABU is digital tiger stripe, composed of the colors tan, grey, green and slate blue (air force blue) in a digital pattern. Both the MCPS and APECS are pants meant to be worn when operating an air craft. The MCPS and APECS pants provide the pilot with protection from extreme weather conditions that might affect ones performance. MCPS is short for Multi-Climate Protection System and APECS stand for All Purpose Environmental Clothing System.
