ACU Patrol Caps
The Propper ACU patrol cap is the current official issued headwear worn by the US Army. ACU is short for Army Combat Uniform, the current combat uniform of the US Army. The pattern used for ACUs is universal digital camouflage, which comprises the colors grey, tan and sage green into a digital pattern. The ACU replaced the previous standard uniform, the BDU short for Battle Dress Uniform. The ACU replaced the BDU completely in December of 2007 as the official uniform to be used during battle. Proppers ACU patrol caps are near infrared (NIR) compliant. Some ACU patrol caps are treated with permethrin, an active ingredient that repels mosquitoes, ticks, ants, chiggers, and other insects. ACU Coats
The Propper ACU coat, Army Combat Uniform coat is the newly designed battle uniform coat worn by the US Army. The ACU was picked over previous issued combat uniforms including the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) and the Desert Camouflage Uniforms (DCU) which were once standard uniforms of the US Army in the 1980s and 1990s. The ACU features constructional design changes and a different camouflage patterns that makes it superior to previous standard uniforms. The camouflage pattern used for the ACU is Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP), sometimes referred to as Army ACU Digital camouflage. The universal camouflage comprises the colors green, tan and grey digitalized to work effectively in multiple terrains like the desert, woodland, and urban environments. Proppers ACU coats are issued in different camouflage colors, Universal Camouflage being the standard issue of the US Army and other patterns as digital desert, digital subdued, digital woodland and multicam camouflage. There are selections of ACU coats produced by Propper with different features, an original ACU, flame resistant ACU, and no fly zone ACU. The flame resistant ACU (FR ACU) is constructed with defender M which features Lenzing FR fibers, a fire resistant and self extinguishing fabric that will not melt or drip when in contact with open fire. The fire/flame resistant properties are part of the fabric, therefore it will never wash or wear out. The defender M fabric is comfortable and lightweight fabric with breathable Lenzing FR fibers that keeps you cooler by absorbing perspiration faster. Lenzing FR protects the skin from all kind of heat, fire, radiant heat, electric arcs, molten metals and flash fires. The FR ACU is built to military specifications (FQ/PD 04-05A) and is Near Infrared (NIR) compliant. The no fly zone ACU is treated with Permethrin, an insect repellent that repels mosquitoes, ticks, ants, chiggers, fleas and other insects. Each of the different ACUs is treated with a Dupont Teflon finish to make it resistant to water and stains. The ACU coat features a fade, shrink, and wrinkle resistant fabric, slanted chest pockets, 3 slot pen/pencil pocket at the bottom on the sleeve, and external elbow pouches with a hook and loop closure. Proppers ACU coats are sewn to military specifications (FQ/PD 04-04A), Near Infrared (NIR) compliant and approved for military operations. Military personnel are seen wearing the ACU coat as a standard issue combat coat for military and tactical purposes. ACU Pants
The Propper ACU pants are pants specifically made to be worn by the US Army as their official pants of the battle uniform. ACU is short for Army Combat Uniform, the new standard battle uniform replacing the old standards, the Battles Dress Uniform (BDU) and the Desert Camouflage Uniform (DCU). The ACU completely replaced the BDU in December of 2007 after being introduced in 2004. The standard army issue ACU uses a camouflage pattern called Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) or sometimes commonly referred to as Army ACU digital camouflage and is comprised of the colors slate grey, desert sand and foliage green in a digital pattern. The ACU is also issued in other camouflage patterns such as digital desert camouflage, digital subdued camouflage, digital woodland camouflage and mulitcam camouflage though the Universal Camouflage pattern is used by the US Army. The newly added features to the ACU pants that werent available with the BDU pants are as follows knee pouches to insert knee pads, elastic leg cuffs, forward tilted thigh pockets equipped with elastic draw strings and Velcro for closure, and two calf storage pockets with Velcro closure. According to Army specifications (AR 670-1) there is an option to have pants legs bloused but can not extend beyond the third eyelet of the boots. Besides the original ACU pants, there are two additional designs, a fire resistant pair of ACU pants and a bug repellent pair. Permethrin is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and tested by the US military. Proppers ACU pants are commonly seen worn among soldiers part of the battle uniforms. Depending on the soldiers location he can choose between the original ACU pants, the flame resistant ACU pants, or the No Fly Zone ACU pants. The Propper ECWCS jackets are cold weather jackets intended for the harshest weather conditions. ECWCS is short for Extended/Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System. ECWCS was developed in the mid 1980s with the intentions to be worn by military personnel stationed in regions that experience extreme cold weather conditions. The ECWCS system was developed by the US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering center. The ECWCS is constructed to keep a person comfortable in temperatures ranging from -60 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, -51 to 4 degrees Celsius. ABU Coats
The Propper ABU coat is a specially constructed coat designed for use by the US Air Force. ABU is short for Airman Battle Uniform, the new battle uniform for the US Air Force completely replacing the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) by 2011. The camouflage pattern for the ABU is digital tiger stripe camouflage, consisting of semi-pixilated greens, blues and tan. Although the featured color of the ABU is similar to the color of the ACU the construction of the ABU is close to the construction of the BDU. Complaints towards the new ABU construction were it was too heavy and hot but, in response a new construction featuring a lighter weight fabric is being processed. The ABU coat features four pockets, an exterior pen/pencil pocket on the forearm, reinforced elbows to ensure durability, and three button cuff adjustment on sleeves. The ABU coat is sewn to military specifications (FQ PD-06-08B), is Near Infrared (NIR) compliant and approved for military use.
