DCU
The DCU, short for Desert Combat Uniform or Desert Camouflage Uniform is a form of the BDU. It features the same construction of the BDU but with a different camouflage scheme. The pattern featured on the DCU is a 3 color desert camouflage pattern, made up of light tan, pale green and brown. The DCU replaced the Desert Battle Dress Uniform (DBDU) which used a 6 color desert camouflage pattern chocolate chip camouflage which was deemed unsuitable for most desert combat theaters. The DCUs were worn by the US Army up until the ACU was introduced as the standard combat uniform. Currently, the US Air Force wears the DCU as one of there combat uniform but is in the process of being phased out by the year 2011 with the ABU. The Woodland Camouflage is a camouflage pattern that is commonly used in army’s around the world or was used at one point. The woodland camouflage blend is 4 colors, 2 shades of green, 1 brown and 1 black to comprise a pattern similar to colors found in woodland and jungle terrains. 6 Color Desert Camouflage
The 6 Color Color Desert Camouflage is a pattern that was constructed to allow one to blend into the desert and desert like environments. The 6 color desert camouflage is comprised of light tan overlaid with broad swathes of pale olive green, two tone bands of brown and clusters of black on white scattered all over. The 6 color desert camouflage received the nickname chocolate chip camouflage because it resembled chocolate chip cookie dough.
