DCU
The DCU, short for Desert Combat Uniform or Desert Camouflage Uniform is a form of the BDU. It features the same construction of the BDU but with a different camouflage scheme. The pattern featured on the DCU is a 3 color desert camouflage pattern, made up of light tan, pale green and brown. The DCU replaced the Desert Battle Dress Uniform (DBDU) which used a 6 color desert camouflage pattern chocolate chip camouflage which was deemed unsuitable for most desert combat theaters. The DCUs were worn by the US Army up until the ACU was introduced as the standard combat uniform. Currently, the US Air Force wears the DCU as one of there combat uniform but is in the process of being phased out by the year 2011 with the ABU. The DCUs are commonly referred to as military combat uniform, desert camouflage BDUs, camouflage uniform, desert camouflage uniform, military camouflage BDU.

ACU
The ACU, short for Army Combat Uniform is the current uniform used for combat by the US Army. The ACU replaced the previous standard uniforms, the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) and the Desert Camouflage Uniform (DCU). The ACU features a number of changes including the camouflage pattern which makes it superior to previous uniforms used by the US Army. The color used for the ACU camouflage pattern is composed of slate grey, desert sand and foliage green pixel pattern which has the ability to appear darker or lighter depending on exposure to sunlight. The ACU was first issued to deploying units in April of 2005 and fully replaced the BDU completely by December of 2007. The army combat uniform are sometimes referred to as army battle uniform, army military uniform, ACU army uniforms, digital camouflage uniform, digital army uniform.

3 Color Desert Camouflage
The 3 Color Desert Camouflage is a camouflage pattern that blends one into the desert environment. The pattern allows one to appear nearly invisible by others in desert terrains when properly applied. The 3 color desert camouflage was developed to replace the 6 color desert camouflage which was considered ineffective in most desert combat theaters. The 3 color desert camouflage pattern is found in the DCU, Desert Combat Uniform or Desert Camouflage Uniform. The DCU was once the standard combat uniform of the US Army for operations in desert like environments. Also, the DCU may be used by the US Air Force, US Navy and US Coast Guards but is currently being phased out for official use. The 3 color desert camouflage pattern is comprised of the following colors, light tan, pale green and brown. Currently and in the past the following countries have used the 3 color desert camouflage pattern, Japan, Djibouti, Sudan, Singapore, South Korea, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and much more. Digital Tiger Stripe Camouflage
The Digital Tiger Stripe Camouflage is a newly designed camouflage pattern for the ABU, Airman Battle Uniform. The digital tiger stripe camouflage is based on a pixilated Vietnam era tiger stripe pattern. The final product of the digital tiger stripe camouflage came in 2007 which consisted of the colors tan, grey, green and slate blue (air force blue). The digital tiger stripe camouflage ABU is currently in the process of phasing out the previous standard uniform used by the US Air Force, the BDU and DCU. As of right now the mandatory wear date of the digital tiger stripe camouflage ABU is October 1st and after which the DCU and BDU are no longer authorized for wear. The digital tiger stripe camouflage ABU’s were issued to Airmen deploying to Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait in late 2007. Countries including the US which use the digital tiger stripe camouflage are the Dominican Republic. ACU Coats
The Propper ACU coat, Army Combat Uniform coat is the newly designed battle uniform coat worn by the US Army. The ACU was picked over previous issued combat uniforms including the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) and the Desert Camouflage Uniforms (DCU) which were once standard uniforms of the US Army in the 1980s and 1990s. The ACU features constructional design changes and a different camouflage patterns that makes it superior to previous standard uniforms. The fire/flame resistant properties are part of the fabric, therefore it will never wash or wear out. The defender M fabric is comfortable and lightweight fabric with breathable Lenzing FR fibers that keeps you cooler by absorbing perspiration faster. Lenzing FR protects the skin from all kind of heat, fire, radiant heat, electric arcs, molten metals and flash fires. The FR ACU is built to military specifications (FQ/PD 04-05A) and is Near Infrared (NIR) compliant. The no fly zone ACU is treated with Permethrin, an insect repellent that repels mosquitoes, ticks, ants, chiggers, fleas and other insects. Each of the different ACUs is treated with a Dupont Teflon finish to make it resistant to water and stains. The ACU coat features a fade, shrink, and wrinkle resistant fabric, slanted chest pockets, 3 slot pen/pencil pocket at the bottom on the sleeve, and external elbow pouches with a hook and loop closure. Proppers ACU coats are sewn to military specifications (FQ/PD 04-04A), Near Infrared (NIR) compliant and approved for military operations. Military personnel are seen wearing the ACU coat as a standard issue combat coat for military and tactical purposes. The ACU is the most popular military uniform being issued and is used for tactical operations and other purposes outside the army by professionals. ACU Pants
The Propper ACU pants are pants specifically made to be worn by the US Army as their official pants of the battle uniform. ACU is short for Army Combat Uniform, the new standard battle uniform replacing the old standards, the Battles Dress Uniform (BDU) and the Desert Camouflage Uniform (DCU). The ACU completely replaced the BDU in December of 2007 after being introduced in 2004. The standard army issue ACU uses a camouflage pattern called Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) or sometimes commonly referred to as Army ACU digital camouflage and is comprised of the colors slate grey, desert sand and foliage green in a digital pattern. The ACU is also issued in other camouflage patterns such as digital desert camouflage, digital subdued camouflage, digital woodland camouflage and mulitcam camouflage though the Universal Camouflage pattern is used by the US Army. The newly added features to the ACU pants that werent available with the BDU pants are as follows knee pouches to insert knee pads, elastic leg cuffs, forward tilted thigh pockets equipped with elastic draw strings and Velcro for closure, and two calf storage pockets with Velcro closure. According to Army specifications (AR 670-1) there is an option to have pants legs bloused but can not extend beyond the third eyelet of the boots. Besides the original ACU pants, there are two additional designs, a fire resistant pair of ACU pants and a bug repellent pair. Permethrin is crosslinked onto fabric during before the manufacturing of a product to ensure a consistent application, after 50 washes certain fabrics contained as much as 83% to 87% Permethrin. Permethrin is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and tested by the US military. Proppers ACU pants are commonly seen worn among soldiers part of the battle uniforms. Depending on the soldiers location he can choose between the original ACU pants, the flame resistant ACU pants, or the No Fly Zone ACU pants. ACU pants are also seen being worn by civilians for comfort, design and also for tactical operations.
